Where is the LOVE?!?

Looking at the helpless 75+ years old lady sitting at the alighting platform at Seremban Bus Terminal, I was indeed sad and feel sympathy towards her.

Sitting straight without lying at the chair sometimes remarking a kind of anxiety and worry.
She was holding tight the bus ticket and looking for the bus. Apparently, she is one of those less educated as she even unable to reply a Malay stall lady who was trying to pay concern to her.  All she can speak is only simple Malay language.

From my observation, she was wearing a hand-made shirt with few big pockets sewed at the shirt (and those pocket are full with her stuff, the pocket was fasten by a safety pin instead of a button), slipper, no hand carry and no watch (having no watch making her unsure with the time and departure).

d' simple attire.
At this moment of time, I was so worry that she might be cheated by someone and I wanted to deliver my assistance that within my capability too.

“Auntie, where are you going?”
“Malacca.”
“What time is your departure?”

And she pass me the ticket, I would assume that she does not know when the departure time is.
“Ohh.. auntie, you bus will depart at 1330H and the bus is yet to be here, you please wait ya.”
“Auntie, why are you going to Malacca.”
“To visit my son, boy.”
I was so wondering - “And he is not picking you up here and yet you have to travel alone?”
“He is busy with his business.” Without any prejudice, I would assume that her son might be a hawker, making him no time or perhaps, only deal with medium size business or even lower than that.

“Where do you come from?”
“I’m from Templer.” (Templer is just located to next to my housing area.)
“How do you come to this bus terminal then?”
The old lady was smiling and she answered that “I took bus.”

I was totally shocked and the first thought that comes to mind was “Huh, how could it be? An 75+ years old lady have to wait for the public bus at the roadside just to reach the bus terminal and depart to Malacca to visit her son.

I nearly cry in front of her after listening to her situation and how she endured the difficulties just to meet her children and, even grandchildren.  All WHYs were suddenly jammed into my mind till I do not know what and how to do to make the situation better! All I can do is only advise her and remind her to take good care of her personal effects and not to trust anyone along the journey. I was just so afraid that she might be one of the victims of a conman or even a robber in the middle of the journey in meeting her son!

Two of us stop talking and she was still in anxiety, I assumed, she was so afraid to miss the bus or what.
All in a sudden, the old lady asked me, “Hey son, come, I treat you some drink”.
My only reply was, “I am sorry, I am about to depart too. Thank you so much ya.”

At 1330H, the bus has finally arrived and at the point of the timeline, I can only guide her to the bus and remind her to be extra careful!

If the watch I wore that time was not the one given by my dad, I would surely give it to the old lady so that she knows the exact time (for departure and arrival).

A senior citizen was once a nation builder contributed their effort and lifetime serving the king and the country, besides, developing the community. And don’t you think that they deserved more care, love and protection when they get old? I was truly disappointed that the government and the community have done so limited of actions in providing better security to this group of people. At this moment, education is the only best alternative to make the situation better,.

Undeniably, it is absolutely our responsibility as children to take extra good care of our own parents who has contributed so much of their lifetime for parental duty, grew us up and fed us, not only food but wisdom! They should be valued more than anything else in this world.
